The Mezomia Mechü Kehou together with the Mezoma Village Council in collaboration with the Government of Nagaland is organising a Traditional Stone Pulling Ceremony in commemoration of 142 years of Anglo- Naga peace treaty (Vitho) concluded at Mezoma Village on 27th March 1880. The event is being organised on the 6th of December 2022 at 11.00 hours in Mezoma village as part of the annual Hornbill Festival 2022.
Shri NIPHIU RIO, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Nagaland has consented to grace the occasion as the Chief Guest.
In this regards, the organizing committee cordially invites the general public including the tourist to the occasion.
The size of the stone to be pulled is 1.9 feet thick, 4 feet wide and 14 feet in length weighing approximately 7 to 8 tons.
Some highlight of the programme includes, the Traditional Stone Pulling followed by Village Walk with the Krapia (Youth in full Traditional attire) along with Morung visit on the way side and the festival feast for all visitors.
The organising committee with pride will also showcase its valued traditional guest from Kikruma village, Touphema Village, Tseminyu village and Tesophenyu village enchanting the Morung of the different Khels of Mezoma Village with their folk songs in full traditional attires.
The distance of the village from Kohima town is approximately 18 Km and the shortest route to the village from Kohima town is via Hydro, National Highway 29 (from Hydro, National Highway 29 to Mezoma is 8 Km).
